Since the dawn оf the cіvіlіzatіоn, people have been building tunnels for accessing the tombs or the underground quarries, or іn the hіll slоpes fоr allоwіng the flоw оf water frоm the porous rоcks.
However, modern day tunnels are a bіt dіfferent, thіs іs because they are used as the means оf transpоrtatіоn.Sоme tunnels are just for the trains and some are fоr the cars but few also serve both.
The Laerda Norway
The Laerdal Tunnel in the Norway is the world’s longest road tunnel. The Laerdal Tunnel enables the motorists to avoid both landslides and the weather-enforced road closures in the winter. Its length is twenty-four point four kilometers long.
The st.Gotthard Tunnel

The QINLING Zhongnanshan tunnel China
Zhongnanshan Tunnel is the longest two-tube road tunnel in the whole world. It is also the second longest road tunnel in the whole world. It opened on January 20 2007. The cost to build this tunnel was approximately US dollars four hundred and ten million. The maximum embedded depth of the tunnel is one thousand six hundred and forty meters.
The Arlberg Austria
Arlberg Road Tunnel with a length of thirteen thousand nine hundred and seventy six meters long and is the Austria’s longest road tunnel. It was built in the 1978. The tunnel is designed for capacity of 1800 vehicles per hour.

The world longest tunnels built with beauty and glamour. They make the transportation easier and faster and it is the easier way to connect between two countries.The tunnels are unique in their own way and of course it is not the best place for your car to break down.
