The Dale Guild’s 16 rebuilt Barth casters can produce type from 6 pt to 24 pt and 72 pt with the same standards of quality and accuracy as the American Type Founders Company. Coupled with the consistency and accuracy ATF was know for, the Barth’s casting pressure often exceeds 5 tons per sq. inch to ensure that our type is as hard and solid as possible. The high rate of casting pressure and our type metal alloys high percentage of antimony and copper ensures printing type that is truly “The best type in any case”. We have access to thousands of different matrices from the ATF and other 19th-century type foundries (for a complete list of typefaces available, see our Type Catalog).

Along with our Barth casters we also operate three pivotal casters to produce type with body sizes or drives outside the range of our Barth casters. We have a large collection of blocks and molds from many 19th-century type foundries that we can use to cast from 3 pt to 96 pt type.
