The Dale Guild Type Foundry operates 16 rebuilt Barth type casters originally from American Type Founders Company, capable of casting type from 6 pt to 24 pt and 72pt. In addition to these foundry automatics, we have 3 pivotal casters from the McKellar, Smiths, & Jordan and George Bruce & Sons foundries with a large collection of blocks and molds from many 19th century foundries that enables us to cast most body sizes from 3 pt to 96 pt.

Our matrix department is capable of creating new matrices by engraving directly into brass planchets using our two Benton engraving machines. We are also capable of growing electrodeposited matrices from pristine unprinted sorts and driving punches from production foundry, Monotype, and Ludlow punches. While we primarily produce matrices for our on foundry equipment we can cut, grow, and drive matrices for various Monotype casters, either replacement matrices or complete new suites of matrices.
