Ghana: Land of Immense Natural Beauty

July 16, 2014 |

Located on the west coast of Africa, Ghana is home to some of the most breathtaking scenery and unforgettable sights. From its tranquil beaches to its one-of-a-kind forests, Ghana is definitely one of the most naturally beautiful countries out there. In order to save money for your trip, we suggest you to start finding some special offers on local classified websites such as Adepafie.com.

Probably its most well known site, the Kakum National Park is located north of the Cape Coast and is about 357 square kilometers in size. This park’s main feature is a rainforest canopy walkway. This walkway consists of six tree platforms, thirty meters above the forest floor. There exist only about a dozen of these canopy walkways in the world, this one being the only one in Africa. Kakum also offers bird watching tours, which is a great way to experience the spectrum of wildlife present in Ghana. When visiting the park, be sure to get there early to miss the lines and avoid the crowds.

Ghana is also home to several gorgeous waterfalls. These range from well known to less familiar ones known only to local villagers. Most of the time, the journey to reach the waterfalls is just as, if not more, amazing than the destination itself.

Ghana’s lake

In addition to waterfalls, Ghana’s lakes, rivers and lagoons are also desirable destinations. Ghana has many rivers and streams, the main attraction being Volta Lake, which is the largest man-made lake on the planet. In the south, exists the only natural lake in Ghana: Lake Bosumtwi. Not only is this lake the only natural lake in Ghana, it is the largest lake in Africa formed by meteorite impact. All of the rivers in Ghana offer scenic views conducive to enjoyable canoe rides. But only one river – the Pra River – has established infrastructure for tourism. (Image by Eric Majoor)

The beaches are also very favorable to tourism. While many of the beaches are developed and contain resorts, Ghana also has some of the most undeveloped and untouched beaches. Facing the Atlantic Ocean with white sand and crystal clear water, Ghanaian beaches present some of the best spots for vacations.
